The work on display brought the viewer back to a time that they were able to relate to. The photographs offered an intimate, personal look inside the Hip Hop artists’ personal life. Seeing an unguarded, personal side of the artist that is often reserved for Family and close friends.

The images give a firsthand perspective to a time whewere just starting their careers in the early-to-mid 1990’s. You feel the passion, the struggle, the perseverance that made the artists music stand the test of time.

JANUARY - MAY 2023

My portraits of @2pac @thenotoriousbig @lilcease @bustarhymes & @mslaurynhill are featured alongside many historic moments in Hiphop at: ‘Hip-Hop: Conscious, Unconscious’, that opened January 26th.

Together with @massappeal and @hiphop50, we’re creating the definitive destination for celebrating hip-hop’s global impact on visual expression – a traveling exhibition and immersive experience bringing together a roster of artists who have documented this cultural phenomenon.

On view through May 2023, ‘Hip-Hop: Conscious, Unconscious’ features over 200 photographs, and traces the rise and proliferation of hip-hop through five decades of work from trailblazing image-makers who helped codify hip-hop as the most influential pop culture movement of its generation.

Taking over two museum floors, the exhibition is presented in collaboration with @chase @marriottbonvoy credit cards and adds to Mass Appeal’s Hip Hop 50 cross-platform initiative - a manifestation of the company’s commitment to celebrating the culture in the most authentic and globally impactful way possible.
